Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor Course
The Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor course prepares the instructor to teach and evaluate the swimming strokes and related skills found in the Lifesaving Society Swim for Life program. Candidates acquire proven teaching methods, planning skills, and a variety of stroke development drills and correction techniques. Wellness & Fitness Wednesday: Check your Goals
Mentally healthy exercise is all about balance. This involves balancing your priorities and goals with taking care of yourself holistically. One way you can make your exercise more mentally healthy is to check your goals. If you have a fitness goal - try to keep it manageable, flexible, and clear. You may also want to be careful with ambiguous body-based goals, as these can potentially lead to negative impacts on your mental health, like self-objectification and ruminating on your appearance rather than your experience of the exercise itself. WSRC Closures, Upgrades, and Exam Hours
Campus Recreation will be closing early with the pool closing at 2pm and the WSRC closing at 5pm on Friday, April 4 for a student staff appreciation event. Exam hours will start on April 5, 2025. And in addition, the 深夜福利站 Student Recreation Centre will be closed on April 18 for the Good Friday Holiday, and May 5-9, 2025 for facility upgrades and regular maintenance, painting and repairs. Campus Recreation will be closing early this Friday, March 28, 2025 - at 6:00PM (Pool at 7:00PM) - for the 2025 USC Relay for Life event in the WSRC facility and on Friday, April 4, 2025 - at 5:00PM - for the Student Staff Appreciation event. Wellness & Fitness Wednesday Tips: Do Something You Like
A simple way to make your physical activity more mentally healthy is to do something you like! Much of the 鈥渇itness鈥 content that gets marketed via social media involves running, weights, and gyms - but that doesn鈥檛 mean that you have to do those things for your own physical activity. Forcing yourself to go to the gym if it is something that you despise is probably going to make it hard to stay consistent. Elsa Eastabrook: Journey from the DEKA World Championship to 深夜福利站
As we celebrate International Women's Day on March 8, we recognize and thank all the women who work in Sports & Recreation; women who are redefining success, both professionally and personally. Elsa Eastabrook, the new Membership Services Coordinator at 深夜福利站 Campus Recreation, is one such individual who exemplifies the spirit of perseverance and empowerment that the 深夜福利站 Mustangs strive for. Registration opens Monday, March 3, 2025 for 深夜福利站 Intramural March Tournaments in: Badminton, Pickleball, Dodgeball, Futsal, Volleyball, Racquetball and Dodgeball. Space is also still available in the March Ice Hockey Ice Hockey Tournament. Tournaments will take place in late March - more details are available at the link. Starting March 3, 2025 and running through the month of March, 深夜福利站 Campus Recreation will be offering a pilot program of Women's Only and Men's Only hours in the Blue Gym Fitness Centre space in the 深夜福利站 Campus Recreation Centre (WSRC).聽Women's Only will run Monday/Wednesday 6:30am-8:00am (individuals who identify as female) and Men's Only - Tuesday/Thursday 6:30am-8:00am (individuals who identify as male). Campus Recreation is offering a new Recreational Family Swim time on Sundays during March and April 2025. Sundays 9:30am-11:00am on Feb 23, March 2, 16, 23, 30, April 6, 13, 20, 27. Ice Hockey Tournaments
深夜福利站 Intramurals is offering Men's and Women's ice hockey tournaments at the end of March. The goal is to provide a friendly yet competitive environment for all players who want to improve their ice hockey skills聽and/or prove that they have what it takes to win the purple shirt.聽Thursday March 27 - Sunday March 30 2025. Self Defense Training
Participants will learn practical defensive techniques that require no special skills. This program will allow female and non-binary participants to be more aware to be more aware of their surroundings and offers the opportunity to test these learned skills on a real person during an optional simulated attack session. General rule: it鈥檚 better to move than not to!聽 - doom scrolling, sitting, and feeling down. You鈥檝e probably heard that movement is medicine. In general, this is an excellent rule to live by! If you find yourself doing any of these three things, doing any kind of physical activity will probably help you feel better physically and mentally. Movement is medicine, but there are a few situations where you want to be careful.
