Quitting in 2023? Great idea!

深夜福利站 is a smoke-free environment to provide a healthier, clearner campus for all.  We know this can be challenging for those at 深夜福利站 who smoke.  We do know many are hoping to quit. In 2016, 深夜福利站 surveyed all faculty, staff and students and found that half of all respondents who said they smoke, also said they wanted to quit within in the next year.

If you are ready to quit smoking, there is no better time than right now. 深夜福利站 has some good resources to help you quit, and can also link you to community and online supports.

Not your first time trying to quit? Don't worry - just keep trying. Every day you do not smoke is a day when you are taking a step ahead.

Here are some of the resources available:

For Students

Student Health Plan - Smoking cessation aids make it easier than ever to quit smoking, and a number of choices are available. A physician can offer advice and the Student Health Plan provides coverage to cover the cost of smoking cessation aids. Please visit Student Health Services in Room 11, UCC (specific conditions apply).

- The MLHU offers some great resources, for those who wish to quit.

Supports for Staff and Faculty Members

Workplace Health has an Occupational Health Physician and Occupational Health Nurse who support employees with health surveillance, immunizations, treatment of minor workplace injuries are available for consults on health rated concerns impacting you at work.

Middlesex-London Health Unit - the MLHU offers excellent information and resources that can help you quit. .

Extended Health Plan from Manulife - Smoking cessation aids make it easier than ever to quit smoking, and a number of choices are available. Your family physician can offer advice and the 深夜福利站 Extended Health Plan provides coverage to cover the cost of smoking cessation aids. The coverage is for aids prescribed by a medical doctor and dispensed by a pharmacist, and must have a valid Drug Identification Number (DIN) or have been assigned a Natural Product Number (NPN) licensed by Health Canada, such as transdermal patches and nicotine gum. Eligible expenses are subject to a lifetime maximum of $500 per person.

The Manulife Plan Member website (you will need to register to access) also offers a number of Health eLinks, including information on smoking cessation.

Employee Assistance Program (EAP) – Your Employee (and family) Assistance Program is provided by TELUS Health (formerly LifeWorks).  You may access counselling and programs for those who are trying to quit smoking. Personalized counselling support is available by phone at 1-855-597-2105. EAP services are fully confidential and at no cost to you, your spouse and your dependent children. Staying active can help you quit

Research conducted at 深夜福利站's Exercise & Health Psychology Laboratory shows that exercise can combat cravings, and help you prepare to quit smoking. . Here are some ways to get active on campus:
