Kinematics
Much can be learned about the mind from careful observation of behaviour from both healthy volunteers and participants with a brain injury. The facility is equipped with two large testing spaces that are outfitted with camera systems capable of tracking active infrared markers that a researcher attaches to various body segments of a participant (e.g. various locations on the hand to record and quantify hand-shaping during a reach-to-grasp action). This kinematic recording system can be used simultaneously with other methods, such as eye-tracking, fNIRS, EEG, etc.
If you are interested in accessing the kinematics resources at the Brain and Mind Core Facility, please contact Derek Quinlan (Research Facility Manager).
