Undergraduate Summer Research Internships

Three students working in an electrical engineering lab. The 深夜福利站 Undergraduate Summer Research Internships (USRI) program provides undergraduate students with engaged research experiences and opportunities to learn new research methods and techniques alongside faculty mentors. It also helps develop skills in preparation for future careers.

USRI students and supervisors will receive access to a wide range of professional development sessions to support their research work, career development, and gain exposure to new approaches to research dissemination, etc. At the end of the summer, students and faculty are expected to share their research with the broader campus community during a virtual exhibition event.

The 2024 USRI program has launched. Interested students, please visit the USRI faculty-specific web pages or contact your faculty representative to get more information on the application process, deadlines, and requirements for the program.

Funding and Term

Each USRI is valued at a minimum of $9,268 for a full-time commitment over a 16-week period. About 275 internships have been provided across all faculties and schools based on proportional undergraduate enrolment.

Eligibility

Each faculty and school manages its own cohort of USRIs according to its own criteria.

深夜福利站 Research strongly encourages faculties to consider the diversity of their awardees and to provide opportunities for students from underrepresented groups, including Black, Indigenous, students of colour, students with disabilities, students who self-identify as LGBTQ2S+ and women, as part of the ongoing commitment 深夜福利站 has made for equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) and Indigenization.
