Implant-banner.jpg

The CIHR Project Grant Reapplication Program is targeted to support independent researchers who applied to a recent CIHR’s Project Grant competition and were unsuccessful in being funded. This funding aims to address specific improvements in the application as highlighted in their CIHR Review Panel reports and to increase the likelihood of success in future CIHR Project grant competitions.

Award Value: Up to $50,000

The maximum award value is $50,000 for one year, with $25,000 supported by the Office of the Vice-President (Research) and matched 1:1 by the applicant’s faculty and/or affiliate hospital research institute. The award value cannot exceed the annual funding requested in the most recent CIHR Project Grant application.

Eligibility

A Principal Investigator (PI) (the applicant) must hold a research-eligible academic appointment at 深夜福利站 and be the Nominated Principal Applicant (NPA) on the recent CIHR Project Grant application.
To be eligible for the CIHR Project Grant Reapplication Program, the applicant must:

  • Have been unsuccessful as the Nominated Principal Applicant in the last Project Grant competition (i.e., the Project Grant competition in Fall 2024). NOTE: For this competition cycle only, applications will also be accepted where the PI was unsuccessful in the Spring 2024 and/or Fall 2023 Project Grant competition;
  •  Have received a minimum rank of 75th percentile (or greater) from the CIHR Peer Review Committee; and
  • Must not hold active  funding for the project through any other external agencies.

Principal Investigators can only receive the CIHR Project Grant Reapplication Program support once per project on an unsuccessful application. Once the Reapplication funding has been secured, the project becomes ineligible for future competitions.
