Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I hire an Arts and Humanities intern?

Arts and Humanities students are talented and knowledgeable individuals who have developed strong transferrable skills, including communication, problem solving, critical thinking, research, and leadership.

Due to their adaptability, creative outlook, and innovative ideas, they can think outside the box and get the job done. We have had nothing but positive feedback from our existing current partners.

What types of internships are best for Arts and Humanities students?

Due to the varied programs and fields of study in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, our students excel in a wide range of industries and position, such as:

  • Content Development
  • Marketing and Communications
  • Graphic and Web Design
  • Public Relations
  • Teaching
  • Editing and Publishing

  • Non-Profit Work
  • Customer Service

  • .... and More.

What’s the length of a typical internship?

Fall term (September-December) and Winter term (January-April) internships are typically 10 hours per week for 12 weeks, for a total of 120 hours minimum. Students typically do a part-time internship during the school year, as they are also taking other courses while working on the internship.

Summer term (May-August) internships can be part-time or full-time, and can be a minimum of 120 hours (for 0.5 credit) or a minimum of 240 hours (for a 1.0 credit). Unlike the Fall and Winter terms, Summer weekly hours can vary as the student will not have classes (i.e. they can work more than 10 hours per week).

Are internships paid or unpaid?

Internships can be paid or unpaid.

Are there any tax credits or funding for employers?

Short-term internships (10 - 16 weeks) are not eligible for the Co-operative Education Tax Credit (CETC). As such, we are not able to issue tax credit letters for our students.
