Canadian Academy of Health Sciences Fellowships 2025
The Canadian Academy of Health Sciences brings together Canada’s top-ranked health and biomedical scientists and scholars to make a positive impact on the urgent health concerns of Canadians.
This pre-call framework is based on previous competitions and is therefore subject to change as new information is provided by the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences.
Fellowship in the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences (CAHS) is among the highest honours in Canadian health science and carries with it a covenant to serve the Academy and the future well-being of health science. The CAHS recognizes the full breadth of academic health science from fundamental science to social science and population health. Fellows of the Academy are entitled to the designation FCAHS (Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences) or MACSS (Membre de l’academie Canadienne des sciences de la santé).
Eligibility
Nominees must:
- Be Canadian citizens or have been Canadian residents for the preceding three years;
- Have careers marked by a record of substantial accomplishment;
- Be well recognized by their peers nationally and internationally for their contributions to the promotion of health science; and
- Have the following demonstrated characteristics: leadership, creativity, distinctive competencies, a commitment to advance academic health science, and demonstrated commitments to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Fellows elected to the Academy will be health and biomedical science leaders who have achieved local, provincial, national, and international peer recognition for their contributions to the health sciences (awards, invited lectures, invited reviews, and editorials) and have a demonstrated track record of exceptional accomplishment and impact.
Elected Fellows will normally hold the rank of Full Professor.

Nomination Process
- Three Letters of Nomination are Required - Maximum three pages each:
- Normally at least one of the Nominators is a Canadian Academy of Health Sciences (CAHS)
Fellow, however nominations will be considered where none of the nominators are CAHS Fellows. - Letters should describe the professional relationship(s) with the nominee and must address in specific paragraphs the characteristics of recognition, leadership, creativity, distinct competencies, and commitment to advance the health sciences.
- We recommend two of the letters come from well-recognized referees from outside the 深夜福利站 (Canadian or international)
- All must be from either health science experts or senior academic administrators.
- Normally at least one of the Nominators is a Canadian Academy of Health Sciences (CAHS)
- A full nomination package will consist of:
- 100-word lay-citation describing the nominee’s accomplishments and contributions;
- a list of keywords covering the nominee’s areas of expertise (selected from a list);
- a 500-word summary and assessment of accomplishments and contributions justifying election;
- a 500-word statement from the nominee on how they have actively participated and had an impact in volunteer associations, societies or other groups and how s/he anticipates actively working in the Academy
- a current CV that clearly identifies graduate trainees as authors of papers by means an asterisk on the trainee’s name.
Note: The primary nominator and nominee should each describe evidence of contributions to advance inclusivity, diversity, equity, and accessibility in Canada. Co-nominators also may address this characteristic if they have knowledge of the nominee’s contributions to advancing inclusivity, diversity, equity, and accessibility. Letters should focus on the nominee’s impacts.
