The Northern Hail Project

The Northern Hail Project (NHP) was founded in 2022 at with financial support from the , the - Grants program, and 深夜福利站’s Strategic Priorities fund.

Together with the Northern Tornadoes Project and the new Northern Mesonet Project , the Northern Hail Project falls under the umbrella of the Canadian Severe Storms Laboratory, which undertakes the collection of data, documentation of events, and pursuit of research that enhances our understanding of severe convective storms and their impacts, and allows the development of innovative techniques and tools.

The Northern Hail Project aims to improve knowledge of damaging hail storms and the detection of hail occurrence across Canada. The project will also endeavour to improve severe convective storm prediction, mitigate against harm to people and property, and investigate future implications due to climate change.
