Dr. Humberto Omana is a consultant in Quality Improvement/Evaluation within the Research & Strategy Team for the Regional Geriatric Program of Southwestern Ontario at St. Joseph’s Health Care London, an Adjunct Research Professor for the School of Health Studies at 深夜福利站, and an Associate Scientist for the Lawson Research Institute. Dr. Omana conducts health systems research on older adult care. A special emphasis of his work is falls prevention in older adults, people living with cognitive impairments or dementia, and people living with lower limb amputations. Specifically, through investigations on the inter-relationship between cognition, mobility (gait, balance) and falls. Other areas of expertise include quantitative data analyses, psychometric assessments, and literature reviews. Dr. Omana’s research leverages existing collaborations with an array of health service providers (e.g., rehabilitation staff, nurses, personal support workers, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, geriatricians, ophthalmologists) to answer clinical questions and solve clinical problems. Most of this work has taken place within hospitals, rehabilitation units, long term care homes and community-based organizations.
