Land and Colonial Unsettlement in Postcolonial and Indigenous Literatures

With an emphasis on the Middle East, postcolonial authors include Gertrude Bell, Hanan al-Shaykh, Ghassan Kanafani, and Rawi Hage. Indigenous authors include Leslie Marmon Silko, Waubgeshig Rice, Patricia Grace, Eden Robinson, and Drew Hayden Taylor. Students will read these works in relation to questions of environmental justice, genocide, and colonial displacement.
