Canadian Mesonet Portal Update (v2024.11.22): Derived / Adjusted Data Indicator
This update to the Canadian Mesonet Portal introduces an indicator that displays whether meteorological data from a weather station has been derived or adjusted, as well as other minor bug fixes.
Derived / Adjusted Data Indicator
Derived data refers to values calculated using other measured parameters, such as estimating dew point temperature from temperature and humidity measurements. Adjusted data, on the other hand, involves modifications to raw observations to account for known biases, errors, or calibration factors, such as the extrapolation of wind speed to a 10 meter standard. This feature is especially valuable for providing clarity on the reliability and processing level of the data.
A new calculator icon will now appear on the graph to indicate when a parameter has been derived or adjusted.
Minor Bug Fixes
- An incorrect conversion temporarily caused average wind speeds to be erroneously reported. The issue has been resolved.
- All wind speeds were being labelled as "interpolated", regardless of whether that was true or not. This issue has been resolved with the implementation of the derived / adjusted data indicator.
