Group Care
Our group care sessions provide a supportive environment where students can explore new skills, enhance self-awareness, and share experiences with their peers. Each session includes a blend of informative presentations, group discussions, and practical strategy-building exercises. Groups are generally small ranging from 5-12 people. Group members are encouraged to participate in group discussions.
Group Care Schedule
Coping Well: A 4-Week Skills Group
Struggling with stress, tough emotions, or navigating relationships? Join our Coping Well group, designed specifically for students who want to build effective coping strategies and thrive during their studies. Over four weeks, you’ll learn practical skills from Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) that can help you manage your thoughts, emotions, and daily challenges. Here’s what you’ll gain:
- Mindfulness: Techniques for staying present and focused in the moment.
- Distress Tolerance: Strategies for handling difficult emotions and stressful situations without getting overwhelmed.
- Emotion Regulation: Tools for managing intense emotions and preventing them from spiralling.
- Interpersonal Effectiveness: Skills for confidently expressing your needs and setting boundaries in your relationships.
Running weekly on Fridays from 2 to 3:30 p.m. February 28, March 7, 14 and March 21 in Thames Hall Rm. 3189.
Commitment: To get the most out of the workshop, attendance at all 4 sessions is required.

Grief and Loss Support Group
This 6-week group is dedicated to offering compassion and support to individuals navigating the difficult journey of grieving the loss of a loved one. In this non-judgmental space, we will explore ways to move through the grieving process, strategies to manage the complex emotions associated with loss and find ways to maintain a meaningful connection with your loved one. Our aim is to foster a healing community where you can find emotional support, connection, validation, and receive education as well as strategies to help you cope with the grieving process. Together, we will create a safe and empathetic environment to honour your grief and your loved one, while supporting one another throughout this experience.
Running weekly on Thursdays from 2:30 to 4 p.m. on February 6, 13 & 27 and March 6, 13 & 20 in Thames Hall Rm. 3175.

Journey Together: Sharing our Lived Experience (for Black & Racialized students)
This is a support group for Black and Racialized Students. This wellness group aims to create a safe and healing space to share race-related lived experiences including race-related stress, navigating environments, renewal and care. Together in sharing our common lived experiences, we draw a collective voice to:
- not feel alone
- process and learn from each other's wisdom
- create a community to uplift and support one another
- empower through collective healing, growth, and transformation
This group will be co-facilitated by two counsellors from Health & Wellness Services who are themselves persons from racialized backgrounds.

Once signed up, a group facilitator will contact you to do an individual intake which will provide an opportunity to discuss details of the group more fully.
Queer Connections
A 90-minute group bringing in relevant topics, discussion, and mutual support for students who identify as part of the 2SLGBTQIA+ (Two-Spirit, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex, Asexual, and other diverse sexual orientations and gender identities) community.
Every other Thursday from 2:30 - 4:00 p.m. on the following dates: January 9 & 23, February 6 & 20, March 6 & 20, April 3 & 17.

Relationship Basics (for female & non-binary identified students)
The Relationships Basics is a 4-week facilitated discussion group for female-identified and non-binary students. Over the course of the 4 weeks, the group will follow the course of a relationship from learning how to identify healthy and unhealthy relationships, setting boundaries, navigating communication, and deciding whether to break up or keep the relationship going. Students can discuss all types of relationships whether with friends, romantic/sexual partners, or more casual hookups.

Group for International Students
Our Group for International Students offers a way for you to connect and share with others as well as a place to find support for the issues that affect you as a student at 深夜福利站 and in Canada. We will be offering a range of session topics. Information on topics and dates will be available shortly.
Snacks and drinks will be available! Please come and join us for as many or as few sessions as your schedule allows.
