Audiology Services

Our audiology services are available to the public and offered to both children and adults. Our goal is to improve the quality of life for our patients by providing them with the best possible up-to-date assessment procedures, and the most appropriate recommendations available to facilitate their hearing and speech understanding.

Assessment Services

  • Central Auditory Processing Disorder (CAPD) evaluations for children and adults
  • Hearing evaluations for infants, children and adults
  • Hearing screenings for children between the ages of 2 months – under 18 years old. 
    Additional criteria include:
    1. The child has not had an active ear infection within the past 6 months; and
    2. The child is receiving ongoing services from a Speech-Language Pathologist or undergoing psychoeducational assessments; and
    3. There are no reported concerns about the child’s hearing abilities from the pediatrician, family physician, family, or other health care team professionals (i.e., SLP, educators). Children who are suspected by clinicians, educators, or family members to have a hearing loss of any kind, should be routed for a full audiology assessment.

Rehabilitation Services

  • Assistive listening device selection, demonstration, and dispensing
  • Cerumen (earwax) removal
  • Hearing aid consultations
  • Prescribing, fitting, and dispensing hearing aids of all styles and levels of technology
  • Tinnitus Management
  • Balance Treatment
  • Custom earmold impressions for:
    • Hearing aids
    • Noise protection earplugs
    • Swimming earplugs
    • Custom-fitted mobile phone headsets
    • Musician’s earplugs
 

Clinical Staff

We have four full-time and three part-time audiologists who provide direct services to patients of all age and supervise graduate students in Audiology. They are registered members of the .

Service Availability

Audiology services and assessments are available year round by appointment only.

Please call the clinic at 519 661-2021 to book an appointment.  A doctors referral is NOT required, patients can call the clinic directly.

Fees for Services & Accessories

Audiology services are not covered by OHIP.  Audiology services are eligible for benefit coverage.  The clinic will provide a receipt for patients to submit to their benefit plans.   

PLEASE NOTE: The H.A. Leeper Speech and Hearing Clinic is a teaching and research facility. Clinic services may be provided by graduate students under the supervision of a qualified Audiologist. Student observation and participation in appointments and the audio and/or video recording of appointments may occur for educational and clinical supervisory purposes.
